The world is digitizing, quickly – and recent surveys have shown that Malawi has the highest data costs in the world – $27.41 per GB at PAYG rate. Join the #ReduceDataCost #AffordableData campaign, and share your experiences on how the high data charges have affected you personally, or professionally.
The Youth Alliance for Leadership and Development in Africa (YALDA) in collaboration with the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA), International Trade Centre (ITC) and the AfCFTA Secretariat would like to invite you to its Pre i-Boot Camp Virtual Summit.
YALDA and its partners are organising the Pre i-Boot Camp Virtual Summit under the theme ‘BeyondCovid-19: ‘Leveraging the Benefits of the AfCFTA to Spur Africa’s Growth’ and it will take place on Thursday 12 November, 2020 from 9:00 – 18:15 CAT. It will bring together youth, industry leaders, policy makers and entrepreneurs in a series of webinars, workshops and online interviews, facilitating a knowledge sharing platform.
The impact of COVID-19 pandemic on the African economy has been devastating due to the disruption of the global supply chain. It is projected that Africa may lose half of its GDP, thereby pushing 23 million Africans into extreme poverty and undoing much of the development progress made in the last 5 years. The summit will enable and facilitate participants to share strategies around how young people can overcome the repercussions of COVID-19 and do their part to revitalise Africa’s growth. Additionally, this virtual summit will educate young people on the AfCFTA and how to leverage it in order to thrive as we build back better!
Youth can also pitch their business idea at the YALDA Pre i-Boot Camp. The winner will receive $5000 equity investment from YALDA to expand and grow their businesses.
Do not hesitate to share the event with your networks.
We look forward to seeing you online soon.
