Earlier this week, Jesse Clarke – self-described as an ex-muslim atheist and human rights activist, a 25 year olf Brit living in Malawi, tweeted to Cardi B asking her to donate the money she wished to use to buy a bag for herself to young girls in need in Malawi instead.
For his post, he got a lot of praise, and yet also a sizeable amount of critique and backlash, where several Malawians reached out to him to tell him that his approached reeked of a savior complex, and that he should not be begging on behalf of Malawi.
