The Trust protocol | Chifundo

“The Trust Protocol” a book by Mac Richard is a book that helps in building stronger families, teams, and businesses. The book gives a deeper insight into what we know about trust. That it is NOT easy to trust!

In reading the book the author brings up questions surrounding trust that we need to answer or at least think about when doing life with people.

  1. Would you be able to work with your family? If so, how would you fire a family member or how would you feel about being fired by a family member? Is there love that can see past such an event with understanding?
  2. Are you willing to embrace the mess it takes to build trust with others?
  3. Are you aware that no one is immune from betrayal?
  4. Are you aware that the foundation of everything in business is relationships?
  5. Are you always willing to try to make relationships work? Do you still try even when you are tired?
  6. Are you willing to trust before having evidence or reason to do so?

Trust flows with love and good deeds.”

Apart from the questions, the book also reminds us that we must always establish and evaluate our motives. Through trust we find real power to make any relationship work. The trust protocol requires us to:

  • Own responsibility for every word, thought, and motive that radiates out of us.
  • Fess up when we mess up
  • Look for opportunities to reconcile and restore relationships that we might have helped damage
  • Measure our words carefully before flying off the handle
  • Look for opportunities to encourage and affirm people in our sphere of influence.
  • Remind ourselves that “IT IS NOT ABOUT US”
  • Care and walk the talk

In the end the book proves that the TRUST PROTOCOL is difficult, but it works and it is worth it.
